Diabetes a life-long condition causing high levels of sugar in the blood. We mostly recognise 2 types of diabetes:

Type 1-when the immune cells in the body attack and destroy insulin cells

Type 2-when the body cannot produce sufficient amount of insulin, or has become unresponsive to insulin cells and is developed through poor nutrition and lifestyle choices.

In the UK, around 90% of diabetic adults suffer with Type 2 diabetes, and an increasing amount of people are diagnosed with prediabetes, where their blood sugar levels are constantly elevated, putting them at a higher risk of developing diabetes. The complications from diabetes include retinopathy, nerve damage, kidney and liver problems, heart attack and even limb amputations to name a few. With such high numbers of sufferers and the risks associated with diabetes, there is no time to waste-we need to act now and reverse the damage before it’s too late. PB Wellbeing has combined extended research with years of experience training our unique clients, to help you take back control over your life and live it to its full potential!


How exercise will improve the lives of clients dealing with diabetes?

Changes in nutrition and exercise are KEY to managing and reversing (type 2) diabetes and most importantly improving the day to day quality of life of those dealing with it. Physical activity done at the correct volume and intensity, has proven incredibly beneficial in weight management, which is key to combating the damaging effects of diabetes. It increases the amount of glucose used by the muscles for energy, contributing to lower blood glucose levels. Exercise also helps your body use insulin more efficiently, which as a result can help you reduce the amount of insulin you have to take. It will strengthen your bones, improve your mental wellbeing and help to lower your stress levels. At PB Wellbeing we work closely with our Nutrition Therapists, in order to ensure your nutrition is optimised and promotes better health.
