Here are four tips to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth when training for weight loss:
- Your initial assessment should be extremely thorough, and before they put you on an intense workout regime, or any high intensity, high-calorie burning exercises they will make sure that your posture, your technique and any muscular imbalances are being addressed. It can put you through a risk of injuries, and a lot of dangerous situations if it’s not done correctly. Make sure, before you embark on a lot of high intensity training that your strength and your posture is being assessed first.
- Make sure you’re not being sold a dream. Your trainer should lay out a clear workout plan and agree on SMART goals with you prior to starting any workout regime. SMART goals stand for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Based goals. You should know exactly what you’re signing up for, and what is the end goal of your program.
- Your progress should be assessed and revised on a regular basis. Setbacks can happen, but a good trainer will be able to spot it in time and make sure that any adjustments necessary are being put in place.
- Make sure you get your results. It won’t happen overnight, and obviously depending on how long it takes you to achieve your goal. It might take a little bit longer and a little bit more effort. If you have two months to lose a stone, at the halfway point after a month you should already see some pounds dropping. Remember, it requires your full commitment and honesty with your trainer.
